New Release - Manuok - The Old Horse

Manuok's third release is here, "The Old Horse". Starting today it is available via your favorite MP3 store as well as directly from the 500 Records download store. We have been waiting for so long to give up this great release, it was hard to keep it in the bag all to our selves, but the digital release date is finally here! Take a listen to the promo track "The Lion's Share" to get a feel for what "The Old Horse" has to offer. Also the note the Sigur Ros cover tucked away at the end of the record, yessss!  Those familiar with Manuok's previous record, "No End To Limitations", also available on 500 Records, will instantly recognize the aesthetics of the song writing and instrumentation but this time around "The Old Horse" goes deeper, and darker, all at once making it Manuok's most sophisticated and cohesive release yet.

Manuok is nominated for Best Alternative Artist
On the verge of a new release Manuok is nominated for Best Alternative Artist at the San Diego Music Awards 2010, voting begins August 1st! | http://tinyurl.com/mzyknj

Recent Releases
Since we are revamping the website we thought we'd pull up some recent releases to refresh your memories of the great stuff our artist are putting out!

The newest 500 Records release comes from Bay Area post-rockers Ventid.  When we found out they had recorded this epic LP and had until now only printed to vinyl we knew had to grab it. "Rain Dance for Your Wedding" is too good to lie in complete obscurity... and after seeing them live, I have no doubts that thy will continue to impress in the Bay Area.  Ventid finds itself at home amongst other post-rock noteables in the Bay Area such as Silian Rail, Form & Fate and Tartufi. Have a listen.

The next most recent release you should be rocking out to is a gem of an EP from The Aimless Never Miss, called "Tran E.P."  This EP is being distributed on a limited edition cassette tape, including some editions with a 3D art work insert that can be viewed with 3D glasses. All the cassettes we are selling on our website are the 3D version, glasses included! The only other place to get it is directly from the band, while supplies last! You can also download the MP3s from our digital download store or your faviorite online MP3 store. Check out the release and give a listen to the promo tracks.

Next on the list comes the zing and zang (like ying and yang only more colorful) that is the Oakland based duo, James & Evander, with their triumphant 2nd release, "This Is Not The Beginning of Anything." Available in a beautifully put together DIY CD sleeve with offset printed cover art, as well as MP3 download.  I could spend all night just writing about how much I like this record, but I have more to write about, so I'll leave it at this, "Six-Three-One-Fo", take a listen, if you don't like it, this stuff is not for you.

Last, but certainly not least, are mechanical and organic sounds of Identical Homes. Identical Homes (aka Daniel McKenzie) crafts his warm and glowing new album "Machine Made Moods" from the ethers of time, and time likely spent trout fishing and river walking in the greater wilds of Northern California’s Humboldt County. Envision the dusty sounds of Boards of Canada and catchiness of Pinback mixed with samples from Apocalypse Now, Stephen Hawking and a half working CB radio from a decaying Rum Diary tour van and you’ll have pretty good idea of where Identical Homes is coming from. In "Machine Made Moods" you will find a soundtrack for daydreaming.

New Website
The new website is up! We have added a ton of new features, including audio, photos, and videos for each artist.  You can now hear full length streaming promo and focus tracks from every release in our catalog.

We also have added a physical and digital store to the site. You can now buy physical merch from us via our pals at Merchlackey.com and you can by MP3s direct from us via our digital distribution partner.  What does that mean? More money goes directly to the artist and the label, it removes the online mp3 store's cut, ie iTunes! Of course if you prefer to purchase via iTunes and the like, please do, we wont judge you.

Explore the new site and feel free to drop us a line if you have any questions or comments!
